Accor Opens Mercure Cairns in Tropical North Queensland

Accor, the largest hotel operator in Australia, has welcomed its leading Mercure hotel brand back to the coastal holiday hotspot of Cairns in Tropical North Queensland with the opening of Mercure Cairns.

Following a multi-million-dollar upgrade, the new hotel emerged as a rebrand of ibis Styles Cairns. The stylish new hotel encompasses 75 spacious guestrooms, including Standard Queen, Standard Twin Singles, Standard Twin, Superior King Room, Family Room, Loft Spa Room, and Executive King Room.

There is a stunning tropical pool deck and a new modern Australian restaurant – The Stanley – serving the finest local produce.

The makeover of the quintessential Cairns hotel brings a new level of sophistication to the accommodation landscape in the city without compromising on its relaxed Queensland coastal lifestyle. With 55 properties in key metropolitan and leisure destinations across Australia, Mercure is the largest and fastest-growing global midscale hotel brand in the country.

Fast Growth

Mandala Hospitality Group Manager Murray Emerton shared his excitement.

“We are excited to be working with Accor to bring Mercure Cairns to Far North Queensland and feel the refurbishment of this asset will provide a new look to the Cairns market for our leisure and corporate guests.”

Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said the hotel would appeal to a mix of travellers.
