Cairns’ newest lunch hotspot, Herbie’s Diner, has thrown its doors open, offering a wide selection of famous deli sandwiches from across the globe.
Foodies will be able to get their hands on a range of signature destination sandwiches such as Philly Cheese Steaks and Ruben Sandwiches and a range of fresh salads, beverages, and hot wings.
Owner of Herbie’s Diner, Troy Woosnam, has always had a passion for food and decided to open the diner after travelling the world and gaining inspiration from different flavours worldwide.
“I love new flavours. All killer, no filler, that kind of vibe,” Troy shares.
Conveniently located in the heart of Cairns CBD at Orchid Plaza, the diner will provide a one-stop shop for locals.
“It’s a good location for people to come and have lunch. It’s a place for people to sit down and relax, and it’s clean. There are many other food options inside Orchid Plaza as well, so people can go there and be satisfied. There’s something for everyone,” he said.
By partnering with long-term local businesses for the supply of produce, Troy aims to support the community and create a place where people can go to create memories.
“I love food. I love shared experiences with family, friends, and loved ones, which I hope to bring with Herbie’s.”
When asked where the name ‘Herbie’s Diner’ came from, Troy said he was inspired by memories from his past.
“My partner and I, our first concert we saw together was Herbie Hancock, and Herbie is my favourite TV Car. Who doesn’t love a Volkswagen Beetle? And for me, Herbie’s just meant family, friends, and love.”
The diner is located at Shop 8, Orchid Plaza, and will be open for lunch between 10 am and 2 pm daily.
