Annee’s opens third Cairns store

HANNA SLOAN

COFFEE lovers in Cairns turned out in droves for the grand opening of Annee’s Caphê Sua Da at Earlville Shopping Town, Cairns’ third location of the popular Vietnamese coffee shop.

With free coffee for the first 100 customers and merchandise giveaways, the shopping centre was abuzz despite no other retailers or food and beverage operators being open yet at 8 am on Friday 21 June.

Owner and founder Annee Nguyen was present for the opening of what is her fifth location –  there are three in Cairns and two in Townsville.

Starting with humble beginnings at a stall in Rusty’s Market in 2014, Annee’s quickly shot to icon status as Cairns locals flocked to enjoy the shaken Vietnamese iced coffees.

Annee’s coffee offers a modern take on the traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, blending traditional phin filter methods with a cold-brewing process to create the Vietnamese iced coffee experience of choice for locals and visitors alike.

According to Annee and her team, the Earlville location has been in the works for a long time, after fans repeatedly requested a south side locale on social media.

Veteran and new team members lined up in the newly opened store at the entrance to the food court, shaking and pouring on repeat as the line of eager customers snaked through tables almost to the outdoor seating area.

Annee’s Caphê marketing coordinator Billie Hennessey said the great excitement of the grand opening was to see and connect with customers, known to the Annee’s team as guests.

“We love to get to talk to our guests and reward them where we can,” she said.

Annee agreed that that was the best part of opening another location.

“That’s what I’m most excited about; seeing all of our guests here today,” Annee said.

Annee’s Caphê Sua Da in Earlville Shopping Town will open at 6:30 am on weekdays and 7 am on weekends, closing at 4 – later than the Cairns city and Smithfield locations, giving coffee lovers more time to get their fix.
