A GROUP of nine people in Cairns including six boys, two men and one woman, were charged with a total of 62 property related offences after being arrested over the weekend.
A 15-year-old Gordonvale boy was arrested on Friday and charged with 11 offences including four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of enter premises and commit, enter dwelling and commit, enter dwelling with intent, stealing and possess drug utensil.
It will be alleged he unlawfully used four motor vehicles, two in Port Douglas, and one each in Edmonton and Cairns North and stole property from homes over the past three months.
A 14-year-old Woree boy was charged with 12 offences including six counts of breach of bail, and one count each of stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possess house breaking implement, possess knife in public, fail to dispose of syringe and possess explosive (rifle cartridge).
It will be alleged he stole a Toyota Landcruiser from the Tablelands sometime between 8th and 11th October before stealing fuel from a service station and when located by police on Friday, he was in possession of a used syringe, a rifle cartridge, and a knife.
He appeared in the Cairns Childrens Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to reappear on 3 November.
A 14-year-old Manoora boy was charged with one count each of break and enter and attempted enter with intent to steal and two counts of breach of bail yesterday.
It will be alleged on 17 October he entered a Bentley Park business before stealing a mobile phone – he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court on 27 October.
A 14-year-old Whitfield boy was charged with one count each of stealing, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, enter dwelling and commit, wilful damage and enter welling with intent by break.
It will be alleged he committed offences such as stealing a vehicle and other property in Earlville and Mooroobool.
Police refused bail and he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court today.
A 14-year-old Mooroobool boy was charged with one count of enter premises and stealing on Saturday after allegedly gaining access to a Earlville address before stealing property.
Police recovered the property, and the boy is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court on 25 October.
A 45-year-old Cairns North man was charged with three counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence.
Police allege the man entered businesses before stealing multiple property items in October. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 15 November.
A 43-year-old East Feluga man was charged with eight counts of stealing and one count each of fraud, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicenced driving, possess property suspect stolen and possess utensil.
Police allege the man was in possession of goods allegedly stolen from businesses in Smithfield, Cairns, Innisfail, Bentley Park, Atherton, Gordonvale, and Bowen. Police further allege the man broke into Cairns business and was located in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.
It’s further alleged he unlawfully used a rental car. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 30 October.
A 48-year-old East Feluga woman was charged with eight counts of stealing, one count each of fraud and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and two counts each of unlicensed driving and possess suspected stolen property.
She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 30 October.
