A 15-year-old boy arrested on property charges has now been charged with assault after he threw cups of hot coffee at officers while being served breakfast at the Cairns watch house.
The teen was taken into custody after he was tracked by police dog Bailey in relation to his alleged involvement in multiple break and enters and vehicle thefts.
He was initially charged with a host of offences including unlawful use of motor vehicle and will now have assault added to his existing charges.
He will appear before the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
