Cairns Choral Society presents Songs of Love and Light

FOLLOWING its sell-out season of Les Misérables in January, the Cairns Choral Society is back with Songs of Love and Light performed within St Monica’s Cathedral for one night only on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.

Combining the talent of 149 performers ranging from six to 84 years of age, Songs of Love and Light features the Cairns Choral Society’s celebrated choir, a magnificent brass ensemble, an exciting chamber orchestra, Cairns Young Voices, and talented soloists.

According to Cairns Choral Society’s Musical Director Joanne Wright, Songs of Love and Light uses the acoustic power and magical setting of St Monica’s Cathedral to showcase a curated collection of incredible music performed by the city’s talented musicians and vocalists.

Mrs Wright said the concert highlight will be the Australian premiere of Illuminaire, an extended work for choir and chamber orchestra by notable American composer Elaine Hagenberg.

“There is no doubt that the combination of music we have chosen will tap into people’s hearts and provide a truly special and enlightening experience for music lovers,” Mrs Wright said.

Songs of Love and Light will be performed on Wednesday, 24 April 2024, at St Monica’s Cathedral in Abbott Street, Cairns.

Doors open at 7.00 pm for a 7.30 pm start. Tickets are $38 per person, and seating is unallocated.  Contact Last Call Ticketing at www.lastcall.net.au or call 0415 822 333 to book.
