The inaugural Cairns Fashion Week launched in style on Thursday night with the Crystalbrook Resort Wear and Swimwear Podium Showcase.
A mix of local, Australian, and international designers put their best feet forward as models strutted down the runway across the lagoon-style pool at Crystalbrook Riley. The event was a visual and sensory feast, with oversized flowers towering over attendees, sensational lighting glinting off the pool’s surface, and a DJ’s pumping beats spilling out across the space.
The runway was delightfully diverse, with models of all ages, ethnicities, sizes, and body types.
Cairns Fashion Week co-founder and designer Cyan Reign was excited to see months of hard work come to life. Her own line, Citizen Reign Lounge, closed the show, which she said had made the leadup to the event even busier.
Swim, resort, and lounge labels showed their tropics-inspired collections, including Swimbarre, Andavi Swim, Regan O’Neill, Tribe Tropical, April Marie Swimwear, Matilda Cove, Why Mary, Funoas, Zijde, Citizen Reign Lounge, and local designers Tahitian Lime and Dijo Clothing.
The Cairns fashion scene will be well-represented this Saturday June 24, with the runway lineup including Sonlia, Leah Kelly By Design, St Ballentine, Murrii Quu Couture, and more.
All Cairns Fashion Week ticketholders can attend the Shop The Runway event following the showstopping Streetwear, Daywear, and Couture, and Podium Showcase at the Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday night, for an exclusive chance to meet the designers and purchase their designs directly.
Tickets are still available for the Neo Daywear and Avante-Garde Showcase on Saturday June 24 at the Tanks Arts Centre at 12:30 pm.
