A MANUNDA boy was charged late last night following an incident at a Marlin Parade restaurant.
It will be alleged the 16-year-old attempted to steal a bottle of wine from a restaurant table before assaulting a 72-year-old male tourist who tried to intervene.
Members of the public called police who arrived a short time later and arrested the boy, who was still at the incident location.
It will be further alleged a quantity of dangerous drugs and associated implements were located in the boy’s possession.
The 72-year-old male was rendered first aid at the scene.
The boy has been charged with one count each of serious assault person over 60, attempted stealing, possess dangerous drugs, and possess drug utensils.
He is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
