THE Cairns community gathered to show their support for Centacare FNQ’s School Savvy project recently, an initiative that provides school supplies for students and families needing resources to return to school in the new year.
School Savvy is operating across multiple locations, ensuring even more families receive the support they need.
The program has expanded its scope to address the needs of families facing challenges throughout the year.
Centacare FNQ executive director Anita Veivers expressed her enthusiasm about the event.
“Our local program is important as ever in assisting students and their families with the high costs involved in returning to school,” she said.

“School Savvy helps families face over this period, especially with more of our community experiencing additional cost of living pressure.”
For businesses wanting to show their support, sponsorship proposals will be sent out and potential supporters can contact Centacare FNQ directly.
Donation bins will also be distributed throughout the community in the coming weeks.
The program is looking for donations of uniforms, school bags, pencil cases and other essential resources.
