CAIRNS Police officers want to remind drivers if you are planning to drink, don’t drive.
On December 27 at around 8.50pm, a 42-year-old Atherton woman was required to provide a roadside breath test after the vehicle she was driving allegedly collided with a parked car on Ernest Street, Innisfail.
It will be alleged she returned a reading of 0.148 per cent BAC.
She was issued a notice to appear in relation to driving without due care and drunk driving and is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on January 22.
A 46-year-old Cardwell man was charged with high range drink driving and is scheduled to appear at the Tully Magistrates Court on January 11.
Around 11.40 pm on December 27, he was intercepted on the Cardwell Intake Road, Ellerbeck. It will be alleged he returned a reading of 0.204 per cent BAC. His licence was suspended.
On December 28 at around 8pm, Innisfail Highway patrol officers intercepted a 50-year-old Innisfail man on Fitzgerald Esplanade. It will be alleged he returned a reading of 0.082 per cent BAC.
He was issued with a 24-hour licence suspension and is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on January 29.
Around 1.40 pm on December 30, a 35-year-old El Arish man was lucky to escape a traffic crash without serious injury.
It will be alleged he was observed driving erratically along the Bingil Bay Road. As the El Arish man attempted to negotiate a bend, he allegedly lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle has caught on fire.
Mission Beach officers located him a short distance away. As a result of a breath test, it will be alleged that he returned a reading of 0.186 per cent BAC and that his licence was disqualified.
He was charged with one count each of drink driving, driving without a license and driving without due care. He is scheduled to appear at the Tully Magistrates Court on January 25.
On December 30, Innisfail police were conducting a static roadside breath test site on Palmerston Drive, Goondi Bend.
Around 8pm, officers stopped a Toyota Estima being driven by a 31-year-old East Innisfail woman and allegedly observed two children in the vehicle.
It will be alleged the woman returned a reading of 0.120 per cent BAC.
Her licence was suspended, and she was charged with drink driving. She is due to appear at the Innisfil Magistrates Court on February 12.
Around 5pm on December 31, Tully officers intercepted a 23-year-old Tully man on Bryant Street, Tully, for a roadside breath test. It will be alleged he returned a reading of 0.079 per cent BAC.
A 40-year-old Mourilyn man was intercepted on Ernest Street around 1am in relation to his manner of driving. Officers conducted a roadside breath test where it will be alleged he returned a reading of 0.072 per cent BAC.
He is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on February 12.
Around 6pm on January 1, a 23-year-old Woopen Creek man was intercepted on the Bruce Highway, Mirriwinni, for a roadside breath test.
Officers will allege he returned a reading of 0.124 per cent BAC. He is scheduled to appear at the Innisfail Magistrates Court on February 12.
