Christmas lights time in TRC

The much-anticipated Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) Christmas Lights Competition is on again and residents are encouraged to put their Christmas spirit on display.

People can nominate either their own residence or team up with their neighbours and enter as an entire street.

TRC Mayor Rod Marti is looking forward to seeing the festive spirit reflected in light displays on houses, in gardens and across streets in the region.

“Join the Christmas cheer by decorating your home and garden, and nominating for our competition,” he said.

“You can even get together with your neighbours and nominate your street for the hotly-contested best street award.”

The competition is open to all homes and streets in the TRC region and nominations close 9am Monday 4 December.

Judging will take place from 7–9pm 5 Tuesday – 8 Friday December with first, second and third place prizes in both categories.

“We’ll share a list of the participating houses and streets so you can follow the Tablelands Christmas Lights Trail across the community,” Mayor Marti said.

“We’ll also be offering the very popular People’s Choice category again this year.

“Vote for your favourite home between 12pm 11 Monday and 4pm 13 Wednesday.”

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Atherton on Thursday 14 December.

Participants are asked to be considerate of others and ensure lights are turned off by 10pm each night.

Nominations for this year’s competition can be made here and voting will take place here.
