CAIRNS Regional Council has endorsed more than $88,000 of funding for 10 groups through the Community Partnerships Grant.
The grant assists community groups and organisations with the delivery of events, activities and programs that enhance the lives of residents, celebrate important community occasions, and provide opportunities to develop social cohesion and connection in the Cairns region.
The following organisations will receive support for their event:
- Cairns African Association Inc for Women Empowerment Day: $5,000
- Cairns & District Chinese Assoc Inc for The Chinese Zodiac – Celebrating 20 Years Cairns – Zhanjiang Sister Cities: $3,200
- Cairns Basketball Inc for the Under 14 Boys State Basketball Championships: $10,000
- Cairns Indian Association Inc for Holi Festival of Colour: $6,900
- FNQ Volunteers Inc for VEXPO – Volunteering Expo: $4,500
- Gordonvale District Chamber of Commerce Inc for the Gordonvale Sugar Solstice Country Fair: $7,000
- Mossman Port Douglas Senior Rugby League Club Incorporated for Survival Day Knockouts/Reconciliation Rugby League Carnival: $10,000
- North Queensland International Motor Raceway Association Incorporated for Thunder in the Canefields 2024: $15,000
- Queensland Police Sporting Association Inc for the Queensland Police and Emergency Services Games 2024: $25,000
- Smile with Kids Inc for Japan Day of Hope: $2,000
The Community Partnerships Grant provides assistance through cash and the hiring of Council venues and resources. The maximum amount per application is $25,000 (ex GST ) through the following grant rounds:
- Round 10 closes 15 December 2023 for events, activities or projects held 1 April 2024 – 31 April 2025
- Round 11 closes 31 March 2024 for events, activities or projects held 1 July 2024 – 31 July 2025
- Round 12 closes 30 June 2024 for events, activities or projects held 1 October 2024 – 31 October 2025
- Round 13 closes 30 September 2024 for events, activities or projects held 1 January 2025 — 31 January 2026
- Round 14 closes 13 December 2024 for events, activities or projects held 1 April 2025 — 30 April 2026
- Round 15 closes 31 March 2025 for events, activities or projects held 1 July 2025 — 31 July 2026
- Round 16 closes 30 June 2025 for events, activities or projects held 1 October 2025 — 31 October 2026
In addition, organisations requesting assistance with the hiring of a Council venue and its associated resources up to $5,000 are eligible to apply at any time of the year.Â
Ideally applications need to be lodged at least six weeks prior to the start of the event, project or activity occurring.
