COPPERLODE Brewery in Edmonton has recently begun hosting evenings of live music with door proceeds to go to local charities in the region.
On Saturday 14 October, the southside watering hole had booked local band Dr Elephant to perform when they decided to turn the event from a regular Saturday night to a charitable venture.
According to Copperlode Brewery’s general manager Shaun McKay, the team wanted to seize the opportunity to create a charity fundraiser in an organic way.
“It was pretty cool – we had the band booked anyway and have been doing live music, but we decided to do a fundraiser from it,” Mr McKay said.
It’s an ambition of ours to give back to the community, so we will probably do a few more events like this throughout the year

Donations of $5 or more were gratefully accepted at the door from 6pm, with proceeds of over $400 going to Cairns Animal Rescue.
“Being a new start-up company, we just want to get involved with the community and give back where we can,” Mr McKay said.
