COUCH (Cairns Organisation United for Cancer Health) is holding a commemorative and recognition ceremony marking its five-year milestone of service to the Cairns community this Saturday, 18 May.
The ceremony will honour the incredible journey of the COUCH Wellness Centre and recognise the invaluable contributions of individuals and local businesses to its success.
The event will also mark the official opening of the stage two development of the COUCH Wellness Centre, representing a significant step forward in our commitment to providing top-tier healthcare services to the community.
COUCH Board Chair Dr. Scott Davis expressed his enthusiasm.
“This commemorative ceremony symbolises not just five years of service, but five years of dedication, resilience, and support to our cancer-impacted community,” Dr Davis said.
“We are immensely proud of what we have achieved together.”
Following the ceremony, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, the COUCH Wellness Centre will open its doors to the community for a day of celebration.
Cairns locals are invited to attend interactive workshops, service showcases, 15-minute massages, kids’ activity zones, art classes, and a smoothie bar.
Every visitor will have the chance to win a luxurious two-night stay in an Island Suite for two at Fitzroy Island Resort, inclusive of daily breakfast and return transfers on the Fitzroy Flyer.
COUCH Wellness Centre Operations Manager Amanda O’Shea emphasised the significance of this event.
“Our 5th birthday celebration is not just about looking back; it’s about looking forward with gratitude and excitement for the journey ahead and how we can reach and support more locals,” she said.
“We invite everyone to join us and be a part of this special day.”
