NOMINATIONS are officially open for the Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s Australia Day Awards and Youth Sports Bursary, celebrating the outstanding achievements and contributions of our local community members.
In 2024, four new categories will be added to the Australia Day Awards, including Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in Education, Young Entrepreneur/s, First Nations Fire, and Excellence and Innovation.
These new categories join the existing ones like Achievement Award, Arts and Culture Award, Community Event/Project of the Year, Community Group Award, Lifetime Contribution, Service to Sports Award, Sports Person of the Year, Citizen of the Year and many more.
For the first time, council’s Youth Sports Bursary will be held as part of the Australia Day Awards which will be an evening ceremony at the Innisfail Shire Hall on 25 January.
