Crash witnesses needed

POLICE are calling for witnesses to the two-vehicle crash on the Smithfield Bypass Road just before 10am yesterday morning which ended up closing the bypass for most of the day, only being reopened at 4.20pm.

A truck collided with a vehicle travelling north and emergency services remained on the scene until the highway was reopened.

The 44-year-old truck driver from Clifton Beach was extricated from his vehicle and treated for arm and leg injuries.

The 61-year-old driver of the Rav 4 from Brisbane was miraculously not injured despite the vehicle being extensively damaged.

Police would like to speak with any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with dashcam of the crash, or the vehicles.
