Division 7 independent promises liveability

INDEPENDENT candidate Anna Middleton launched her campaign on Friday 1 March promising tangible outcomes to the people of Division 7 if successful at this month’s local government election.

In her first tilt at local government, Anna Middleton has worked to canvas, talk with, and listen to the people of the Division 7 community, an area that spans Edge Hill, Whitfield, and parts of Manoora, Manunda, and Brinsmead.

Ms Middleton said that while the beautification of Edge Hill’s botanical precinct was exceptional, it did not wholly represent Division 7, and she would work to create a more liveable community for all the residents.

“From Centenary Lakes and Gardens through to Whitfield’s Springfield Crescent, Pease Street shops and services and industrial, Anderson Street, the areas that make up Division 7 are as distinct as they are diverse,” Ms Middleton said.

Speaking at Friday’s launch, Ms Middleton said her campaign is based on delivering a series of outcomes that fit within three independent, albeit interconnecting pillars of infrastructure, liveability, and crime.

“From overhauling Division 7’s system of pathways for better connectivity to beautifying streetscapes and introducing lighting, security cameras and infrastructure that improves safety, there are many areas currently lacking and where urgent action is required,” she said.

Ms Middleton added that instead of telling the people of Division 7 what they need, she would listen to the people.

She said that people in her community want a strong and independent voice whose primary responsibility is to deliver for their division.

If elected, Ms Middleton plans to be an on-the-ground councillor and meet the community monthly at Piccones IGA Pease Street.

“It is this important grassroots, nuts and bolts engagement that will deliver on promises and tangible returns on rates investment that Division 7 deserves,” she said.

Division 7 residents can meet Anna Middleton at the Edge Hill Newsagency on the mornings of Saturday, 2 March and Saturday, 9 March or visit her website for more information regarding the campaign.
