Wilful damage, Bungalow

Police arrested a 21-year-old Bungalow man last night after receiving reports of a disturbance at a Kidston Street unit complex. Around 9:30 pm, the man was socialising with his neighbours when an argument allegedly started. The man allegedly grabbed a chair and threw it at a window, causing it to break. A fight allegedly broke out before the man went back to his unit. Police attended, speaking to several witnesses before arresting the man and charging him with one count each of wilful damage and common assault. He was bailed and is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on June 5.

Unlawful use of motor vehicle, Craiglie

A 23-year-old Wujal Wujal man was arrested in Lake Street last night after he was linked to an alleged stolen car. On Sunday, May 7, a Hart Street Mossman home was allegedly broken into, and a Toyota Camry was stolen from the address. Around 10.30 pm the same evening, the car was allegedly involved in a fuel drive-off, with the man being identified from CCTV footage. At around 11 pm last night, officers from Cairns Highway Patrol were conducting patrols in relation to another matter when the man has allegedly run from them. He was arrested a short time later, and checks revealed he was wanted for questioning. The man was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing. He was bailed and is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on May 29.
