Armed robbery, White Rock

Police arrested a 34-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy, both from White Rock, yesterday morning after receiving reports of a taxi allegedly being robbed.

Around 2.45 am, the taxi picked up the pair from a White Rock caravan park and took them to Cairns City. Both allegedly produced knives and threatened the driver. The driver stopped the taxi on Ray Jones Drive and ran from the vehicle carrying the keys.

The pair allegedly stole the driver’s takings and wallet before running towards Lyon Street. The two were arrested a short time later.

A 34-year-old White Rock man was charged with one count each of armed robbery, stealing and trespass. He will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today. A 14-year-old White Rock boy was charged with one count of armed robbery. He will appear in Cairns Childrens Court later this month.

Enter premise, Bentley Park

A 14-year-old Westcourt boy was arrested yesterda after investigations into an alleged break-and-enter that occurred on February 15.

Around 3.15 am, three people allegedly forced entry to a Boyce Street home, ransacking the house before fleeing. An investigation was commenced. Officers from Cairns Property Crime Unit located and arrested the boy yesterday.

He was charged with one count of entering a dwelling and committing unlawful use of a motor vehicle after being linked to a Nissan X-trail that was allegedly stolen from a McMeachan Street home on February 12. The boy’s bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Childrens Court.

Investigations are continuing.

Possess dangerous drugs, Manunda,

Officers from the Tactical Crime Squad arrested a 37-year-old Edmonton man on Saturday.

It will be alleged the officers attended an Anderson Street, Manunda residence around 5:30 pm when the man tried to run from them. He was arrested, and a search was conducted with police locating a crystal substance police will allege to be methylamphetamine.

He also allegedly had in his possession a glass pipe and a clip-seal bag containing cannabis. He was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.

His bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
