THE highly anticipated and fiercely competitive Cairns Amateurs Carnival Fashions on the Field raised the bar once more this year at the carnival’s 65th anniversary Sapphire Jubilee celebrations.
Attendees at the Gordon’s Pink Jubilee Fashion High Tea, Ladies Day and Cairns Amateur Cup Day were dressed to impress, pulling out all the stops in order to catch the eyes of the 2023 judging panel.
Judging this year were Carnival Ambassador Emma Scodellaro, Australia’s multi-award winning “Gentleman of the Day” competitor Neil Carpenter, and former Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador (2019) and Victoria Racing Club Ambassador and fashion judge, Crystal Kimber, as well as Sydney milliner Kathryn Lee.
The judges had their work cut out for them across the three days of events, keeping an eye out for examples of style and originality, tropics-appropriate race wear, accessorising, and quality of workmanship.
