HILTON Cairns, through their Travel With Purpose initiative, has this week donated a large quantity of towels to Wheels of Wellness Homeless Healthcare.
Wheels of Wellness is a local organisation providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness, including primary and allied healthcare, wellbeing support, and training, delivered by a multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, a registered nurse, an Indigenous Health Practitioner, and a podiatrist.
The donation from Hilton Cairns highlights the importance of dignity in the lives of those experiencing rough sleeping, providing essential basic necessities that many take for granted.
The donation of towels not only addresses an immediate need but also underscores the vital role that businesses and the community play in supporting the most vulnerable individuals.
According to Wheels of Wellness Medical Receptionist Syan Koisen, between five and 12 people make use of the organisation’s shower facilities daily, so the donation of towels is a significant help.
Wheels of Wellness has been a cornerstone in providing healthcare and essential services to the homeless community in Cairns.
By ensuring access to basic hygiene facilities, Wheels of Wellness helps maintain the dignity and health of those experiencing homelessness.
The towels provided by Hilton Cairns will significantly contribute to the wellbeing and self-esteem of individuals who rely on Wheels of Wellness’s services.
Hilton Cairns’ Travel With Purpose initiative aims to positively impact the communities in which they operate and is a commitment to social responsibility.
