A QUANTITY of ice has been taken off of Cairns’ streets after local police arrested several people who were in possession of the dangerous drug and other materials.
At around 9pm on 30 November, officers from the Tactical Crime Squad allegedly located a woman in possession of methamphetamine and various drug utensils on Lily Street in North Cairns.
The 40-year-old Bentley Park woman was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs, possess drug utensils and fail to dispose of needle and syringe. She is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 15 December.
At 11pm on the same day officers intercepted a utility on Sheridan Street and allegedly located three clip seal bags containing a quantity of methylamphetamines.
The 66-year-old Holloways Beach man was charged with one count each of possess dangerous drugs and driving unsupervised on a learners permit. He is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 18 December.
Police were then called to a disturbance at a property in Springfield Crescent Manoora at 3am on 1 December.
A 47-year-old Manoora man who was at the scene apparently failed to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court in June, he was then arrested and conveyed to the Cairns Watchhouse where he was searched, with officers allegedly finding a drug pipe in his possession.
The man was charged with one count each of fail to appear and possession of a thing used in connection with smoking a dangerous drug. He was scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 1 December.
