A CAIRNS bespoke building company has blown its competitors out of the water after their latest custom home was awarded the Home of the Year Award at the 2023 HIA (Housing Industry Association) – Pioneer North Queensland Housing, Kitchen & Bathroom Awards.
Local builder Liam Gilligan Builders has shown why they are the best in the Far North, with their latest project, a beautiful seaside Mediterranean beach style home in Clifton Beach, walking away with awards including Home of the Year, Custom Built Home of the Year (over $900,000), Outdoor Project of the Year, Residential Interior Design and New Bathroom.
From front to back, the home screams custom as Liam and his wife Hyaesil worked tirelessly with the owners to bring their vision to life with Liam taking care of all the foundations and building work while Hyaesil used her skills as an interior designer to transform the stunning house into a welcoming home.
Dubbed Project Onyx, the home is an impeccable warm, comfortable and functional private oasis.
A stunning showcase of individuality, liveability and outstanding contemporary craftsmanship has created an inviting and timeless residence, underpinned by a dedication to maintaining the integrity of its bespoke design.
Hyaesil said it took just over three years to complete the project from planning to building and then delivering the project this year.
“I did all of the interior design which involves all of the cabinetry, details, material selection and colour selection and the entire interior design,” she said.
“The clients approached us and they wanted someone they could trust and who could deliver their specific desire so through word of mouth, they contacted us.”
Beyond a deliberately unassuming entry with a small frontage that affords absolute privacy, the highly considered floorplan of the house wraps around a pool to create the ambience and aesthetics of a private resort.
Liam and Hyaesil’s commitment to perfection was part of the reason the home was dubbed Home of the Year at the recent HIA awards and took out an assortment of other awards for its features.
“Liam is a very detail-oriented builder, good enough is not good enough, it has to be perfect,” Hyaesil said.
Project Onyx, along with a handful of other renovations were basically conducted solely by Liam, Hyaesil and Liam’s apprentice.
Hyaesil said one of main points of difference for Liam Gilligan Builders is the comprehensive design and implementation of their builds.
She makes sure the interior is just what the client wants while Liam ensures the home itself is perfect.
Liam said it was a great achievement to be awarded with so many accolades for just one project.
“It feels good to take out this award and get that recognition when there were so many entrants,” he said
After winning so many awards, Liam Gilligan Builders will now progress to the HIA-CSR North Queensland Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards in Townsville on 27th October.
