Man stabbed by youth

A 34-year-old Aurukun Man has been taken to hospital for treatment after he was stabbed in the shoulder by a 15-year-old Aurukun boy on McKenzie Street yesterday, 6 December.

At around 6.40pm, the 15-year-old was socialising with others near McKenzie and Lake Street when he returned to a Lake Street accommodation and collected a knife.

Upon his return to the gathering he stabbed the 34-year-old man in the shoulder, he was then conveyed to hospital for treatment to the stab wound.

Police located the teenager at 6.50pm in a McKenzie Street park and seized a large bread knife.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with one count of wounding and was denied police bail, he is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.
