A TEENAGER has been charged following a disturbance at Grevilla Street in Mooroobool yesterday where he threatened multiple people with a gel blaster.
Police arrived just after 10.30pm and arrested the 17-year-old Holloways Beach boy, charging him with one count of going armed as to cause fear. He is due to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
In a separate incident, a 23-year-old Manunda man has been charged with several offences after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a traffic crash in Mooroobool as well.
The man fled the crash but was located nearby and subjected to a roadside breath test by officers, he was then taken to a police station for further testing where he returned a positive reading of 0.162.
His licence was immediately suspended, and he was charged with one count each of driving whilst under the influence of liquor (UIL), driving without a driver’s licence, failing to comply with requirements when involved in a crash and failing to keep a safe distance.
He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 24 November.
