Oktoberfest at Hemingway’s Brewery is back

HANNA SLOAN

PREPARE your lederhosen and dust off your beer steins because Hemingway’s Brewery in Cairns is gearing up for its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, 7 October.

This year’s Oktoberfest promises an unforgettable experience for locals and visitors alike with German-style beers, German festival food, and a Bavarian beer-fest feel with live music, competitions, and more.

Hemingway’s head of hospitality Roman Haslinger, a born-and-bred Bavarian from Munich, said the event is a highlight of the brewery’s calendar each year.

“We love doing this as the spirit of the real-deal Oktoberfest in Munich aligns with the Hemingway’s Brewery identity,” he said.

Oktoberfest is about venues made for socialising for the young, old, and everyone in between who enjoy great hospitality, delicious food, and of course, fresh craft beer

The event will feature a line-up of far northern breweries, including Maggie Island Brewery, Copperlode Brewing Co (making its Oktoberfest debut), Macalister Brewing Co, Billycart Brewing Co, and, of course, Hemingway’s Brewery.

Another highlight year after year is the mouth-watering German festival food on offer. From bratwurst sausages to pretzels, schnitzels to sauerkraut, the culinary offerings will be a feast fit for a Bavarian king.

To keep the festive spirit alive, Tony George Entertainment will provide live music and entertainment throughout the event.

Attendees can also participate in traditional Bavarian contests such as the keg lifting competition, where strength and precision are put to the test, and the stein slide competition for those with a steady hand.

For those who love to dress up the “Best Dressed” competition will award prizes for the most authentic and creative costumes.

Hemingway’s Brewery’s Oktoberfest promises to be a day of revelry, camaraderie, and fantastic brews. With no bookings required, attendees can join in the festivities at any time from midday until late. Prost!
