Cairns detectives yesterday charged a 27-year-old Holloways Beach man with 32 offences following investigations into alleged identity theft and supplying dangerous drugs.

It will be alleged that the man obtained unsuspecting people’s credit card details and personal information for fraudulently purchasing items.

The man was charged with five counts of obtaining or dealing with identification information. Four counts each of possessing dangerous drugs and entering a dwelling and committing, fifteen counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count of entering a premise with intent to commit fraud and receiving tainted property.

The 27-year-old man is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on 1 March.

Enter premise, Edmonton

A 16-year-old Yarrabah boy was charged yesterday after investigations into an alleged break-and-enter on 31 January. 

At around 4 am, the boy, along with others, drove a car that was reported stolen from a Rigg Street, Woree unit on 29 January to a business located in Walker Road, Edmonton. The group allegedly used a shopping trolley to smash the front glass door to gain entry before stealing a cash register and fleeing.

It will be further alleged that the group then drove to a Walker Road service station and attempted to gain entry but could not break the glass door. They left the scene in the stolen car.

The boy was arrested yesterday and charged with one count each of entering the premise and committing unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

He will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

Investigations are continuing.

Assault, Cairns CBD

Police investigating the assault of a woman in Cairns City have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their investigations.

Around 5 am on Wednesday, 11 January, a woman was bending over to unlock a padlock to a Sheridan Street business when she was allegedly grabbed from behind by a man walking past. The woman yelled at the man, who continued to walk. The matter was reported to the police, and an investigation commenced.
