Appeal for witnesses, White Rock

Police are appealing for witnesses after they were called to an alleged hit-and-run last night.

It will be alleged around 11 pm. A vehicle could be heard travelling along Hollywood Boulevard before a loud crash was heard.

A blue Impreza was seen driving away from the area with significant damage. Two parked cars and a retaining wall were damaged.

Patrolling police located the Impreza abandoned, without registration plates, on Travolta Close at White Rock.

The Impreza has not been reported as stolen at this time.

Police are appealing for anyone with dash cam footage or CCTV cameras in the area to check their footage and contact Policelink on 131 444.

Drink driving charge, Woree

A 34-year-old Parramatta Park woman was charged yesterday after police were called around 4 pm to Henley Street, Woree, concerning a woman allegedly asleep in a car.

Emergency services located the woman and conducted a roadside breath test which allegedly resulted in a positive reading.

She was taken back to the Cairns Police Station for further testing, allegedly returning a reading of 0.175%.

Her licence was immediately suspended, and she was charged with one count of in charge under the influence of liquor.

She will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on March 1.

Wilful damage, Cairns

Police have charged a 30-year-old Edmonton man this morning after he allegedly damaged property at an Esplanade hotel in Cairns City.

It will be alleged around 2.15 am this morning, the man was sitting in the open area of a closed business when he allegedly pushed over barriers before picking up outdoor furniture and throwing it to the ground.

He was located by police and taken into custody.

The 30-year-old man was charged with one count each of wilful damage and public nuisance. He will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on March 3.
