Property crime arrest, Manunda
A 22-year-old Manunda man has been charged with 26 offences in relation to a series of alleged break-and-enters in the Cairns area.
Police yesterday located the man at Manunda, where he was taken into custody. It will be alleged the man was involved in break-and-enters at properties across the greater Cairns area, including Mooroobool, Manunda, Caravonica, Manoora, Cairns North, Mount Sheridan, Whitfield and Edge Hill.
On February 2, it will be alleged the man broke into a Swallow Street home at Mooroobool, allegedly stealing valuables. It will be further alleged on February 7, the man broke into a Caravonica home stealing valuables.
He was charged with six counts of entering a dwelling and committing, five counts of trespass, three counts each of entering a premise and attempted enter a premise, two counts each of attempted enter a dwelling, contravention of domestic violence order, and one count each of common assault (DV offence), fail to properly dispose of needle or syringe, stealing, wilful damage (DV offence) and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
His bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Robbery, Edgehill
A 19-year-old Whitfield woman was charged after an investigation into a bottle shop robbery in Edge Hill in February 2021.
It will be alleged on February 26 2021; three people entered the drive-through area of the Pease Street business before they picked up several bottles and started walking out without paying.
When confronted by staff, the group allegedly threatened the two staff members with the bottles before leaving.
Yesterday’s investigations led officers to locate a 19-year-old woman.
She has been charged with two counts of robbery and will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on February 27. Two others were charged concerning the incident in March 2021.
