P-Plater charged with drink driving

A YOUNG Bayview Heights man has been charged with traffic offences and high-range drink driving when he was stopped by officers on Saturday, 11 November after he was allegedly driving his car in a dangerous manner.

At around 2.40am, officers intercepted the Impreza hatchback where the 22-year-old returned a positive roadside breath test and was transported to Cairns Police Station for further testing – he provided a breath alcohol reading of 0.157.

He was charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor, failing to display P plates and driving a vehicle without an interlock fitted as required.

He is scheduled to appear at the Cairns Magistrates Court on 27 November.
