Police Break and Enters, Atherton

Police have charged a 14-year-old Atherton boy who was allegedly involved in two break-and-enter incidents in Atherton on April 3 and 4.

At around 10.15 pm on April 3, it is alleged entry was gained to a Railway Lane, Atherton business when a brick was used to break a window of a bi-fold door. It is further alleged that alcohol was stolen from the premises. At around midnight on April 4, it is alleged entry was gained to a closed shopping centre in Atherton after a trolley was used to damage a glass entrance door.

It is alleged that the offenders kicked the shop door and triggered an alarm. Police identified three 14-year-old Atherton boys and one 13-year-old Atherton boy allegedly involved in both incidents. A 14-year-old Atherton boy was charged with entering a premise and committing an indictable offence. He is set to appear at the Mareeba Children’s Court. The other boys were dealt with under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.
