Assault occasioning bodily harm, Brinsmead

Police have charged two men following an alleged attack on a 35-year-old Brinsmead man on March 12.

It will be alleged around 5:15 pm; three men attended a Palmer Rise address before they confronted the 35-year-old man.

An argument broke out between the man and the group before the three allegedly attacked him using baseball bats. All three then fled the scene. It will be alleged one of the men in the group was known to the victim. On Friday, March 24, police executed a search warrant on a Gatton Street address.

A 21-year-old Freshwater man was taken into custody and charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and entering a premise with intent. He will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 10.

On Saturday, March 25, police located and arrested a 23-year-old Freshwater man at Kamerunga Rd, Freshwater address.

He has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and entering a premise with intent. He will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 12. Investigations are continuing.

Possess dangerous drugs, Freshwater

A 59-year-old Freshwater man has been charged after police allegedly located a quantity of drugs at a Freshwater residence yesterday, March 26. It will be alleged police attended the Kamerunga Road address around 3 pm, searching a shed on the property.

It will be further alleged during the search of the shed; officers located a clip-seal bag with a crystal-like substance they will allege to be methylamphetamine and a glass pipe. A 59-year-old Freshwater man has been charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a utensil. He was issued a notice to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 14.

Drink drive, Cairns

A 33-year-old Smithfield woman has been charged with drink driving after officers pulled over her vehicle on Friday, March 24.

It will be alleged around 10 pm, police intercepted the women’s vehicle on Lake Street and Spence Street, Cairns City and conducted a roadside breath test with a positive result returned. The woman was taken to the Cairns Police Station for further testing, where she returned an alleged Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of 0.168%.

The woman was charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor (UIL). She is due to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 11.
