Multiple offences, Cairns

Police yesterday located and arrested a 16-year-old Yarrabah boy, a 17-year-old Yarrabah boy and a 15-year-old Bentley Park boy.

It will be alleged the boys had been involved in several unlawful uses of motor vehicles, stealing and entering dwelling incidents over the last few weeks in the Cairns, Gordonvale and Tablelands area.

Thorough investigations by officers from Cairns Property Crime Squad throughout the day resulted in a total of 41 charges being laid.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one each count of stealing, driving of a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, repeat offender and failing to dispose of needle or syringe properly.

He will appear in Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.

The 17-year-old boy was charged with three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles, five counts of entering a dwelling, three counts of stealing, two counts of unlicensed driving and one count of receiving tainted property.

His bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Childrens Court.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with six counts of unlawful use of motor vehicles, six counts of stealing, five counts of entering a dwelling, four counts of attempted entry dwelling and one count of unlicensed driving.

His bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Childrens Court.

Assault occasioning bodily harm, Cairns

A 17-year-old Bayview Heights boy was arrested this morning after police commenced an investigation into an alleged assault on March 13.

It will be alleged around 11.50 pm. A 63-year-old man was walking on Lake Street past a group of juveniles when the boy allegedly blocked his path before verbally abusing the man and taking his phone.

A small scuffle ensued, and the boy allegedly punched the man, who fell to the ground before being transported to the hospital. The boy allegedly fled the scene and was located in Cairns City and arrested. He was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and will appear in Cairns Childrens Court.

Possess dangerous drugs, Manunda

Cairns police charged a 59-year-old Manunda man with drug offences after he was intercepted on Cannon Street this morning, March 30.

Around 12.15 am, police were conducting patrols in Manunda when they stopped a pushbike rider.

A search of the man was conducted, with police allegedly locating a clip-seal bag containing a crystal substance that they will allege to be methylamphetamine and also cannabis.

The man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and failing to wear a helmet. He was issued with a notice to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 13.
