Police from Cairns Property Crime Squad have charged a 17-year-old Cairns North boy with property offences.
It will be alleged the boy was involved in several incidents across Parramatta Park, Manunda, Cairns North and Manoora over the past month. The boy was arrested yesterday after police successfully utilised a tyre deflation device to stop the stolen vehicle he was travelling in on Enmore St, Manoora.
The boy has been charged with four charges of entering a dwelling, two charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and each charge of robbery whilst armed and possession of a knife in a public place. The boy was refused bail and will appear at Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
High-range drink driver, Kamerunga
A 34-year-old Bentley Park man was charged yesterday, April 5, after the vehicle he was driving crashed on Stoney Creek Road at Kamerunga.
Around 6 pm, police were called to a single-vehicle traffic crash and spoke with the driver, who allegedly smelt of alcohol. A roadside breath test was conducted, with the driver returning a positive result.He was taken back to the Smithfield Police Station for further testing, where he returned a reading of 0.215.
His licence was immediately suspended, and he was charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor. He will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on April 20. Police are reminding drivers, don’t be the reason someone doesn’t make it home to their families this Easter weekend. Please have an alternate plan for getting home.
