POLICE have charged multiple teenagers and adults in Cairns over a string of property offences and assaults this week.
Four teenage girls were arrested following multiple alleged property offences and assaults with Smithfield detectives executing a search warrant at a home in Smithfield yesterday where they allegedly located two 15-year-old girls in possession of illicit drug utensils, as well as stolen property.
Police believe the property was stolen from multiple businesses around the Smithfield and Northern Beaches area, the teens were also supposedly involved in wilful damage offences related to graffiti at multiple locations around the same areas.
Meanwhile In a separate incident, the 15-year-olds were in the company of two 13-year-old girls from Edmonton and Parramatta Park at approximately 6.30pm on Monday, 23 October, when they allegedly approached a bus stop at McGregor Road in Smithfield and assaulted a 15-year-old Northern Beaches girl, striking her in the head.
It is further alleged all four girls then assaulted the teen and stole her mobile phone. The girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Smithfield Detectives yesterday recovered the girls’ mobile phone and charged the two 15-year-old girls each with three counts of wilful damage, six counts of stealing, and one count each of public nuisance, assault occasioning bodily harm in company, possess utensil and trespass.
Cairns detectives also charged the 13-year-old Edmonton girl with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm in company.
The 13-year-old Parramatta Park girl was charged yesterday, 25 October, with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm in company and possess drug utensils.
All four girls are due to appear at Cairns Childrens Court next week.
Police also charged three people yesterday following multiple alleged property offences across Cairns recently.
Officers from Cairns Property Crime Squad executed a search warrant at a home in Parramatta Park yesterday, 25 October, where detectives allegedly seized a gold necklace.
An 18-year-old Parramatta Park woman was arrested and charged with one count of possess property suspected stolen. She is scheduled to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on 9 November.
Police investigating the alleged theft of items from Palm Cove on Tuesday, 24 October, used GPS tracking to locate stolen property at an address in Manoora.
Police arrested a 23-year-old Manoora man and allegedly seized a camera, chain, and other property items. The man was charged with two counts each of possess property suspected stolen and enter premises and commit an indictable offence.
Police bail was refused, and he was due to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court today, 26 October.
Police arrested a 16-year-old Townsville boy following an alleged break in at Edgehill yesterday, 25 October.
It will be alleged the boy broke into a home in Edge Hill and was also involved in other offences in Cairns on 23 October, including two burglaries in Earlville and Edge Hill, as well as the unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Mooroobool.
He was charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of stealing and attempted enter dwelling with intent.
He appeared in the Cairns Children’s Court yesterday and was remanded in custody to reappear on 14 November.
