Police make arrest and appeal for footage of hoon

OFFICERS from the Cairns Property Crime Unit charged a 14-year-old Edmonton girl following a break and enter over the weekend.

It will be alleged that around 4am, the girl broke into an Earlville business by smashing through the glass frontage then proceeded to steal alcohol and cause damage inside the store.

Police believe the girl was involved in other offences in the Edmonton and Woree areas in the previous weeks.

She was charged with one count of break and enter and two counts of stealing and is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court on 13 December.

Police are also seeking CCTV or dashcam footage following an incident at the intersection of Hoare Street and Moody Street last night, 12 December.

At about 7.20pm, a green Holden Commodore with the registration number 999HM7 was seen by police performing a burnout on Hoare St, before the driver lost control of the vehicle, narrowly missing parked cars.

The vehicle was involved in a stand-off with police before the vehicle fled up Moody St toward Mooroobool – it was last sighted on Balaclava Road.

Police believe the same vehicle may have been involved in similar incidents throughout the evening.

Members of the public with any information should contact Policelink and quote reference number QP2302076556.
