Stealing, Earlville
A 19-year-old Mooroobool man was arrested yesterday following an investigation into an alleged stealing complaint.
Police will allege around 6 pm on Tuesday, February 28, a 49-year-old woman was walking to her car in the underground car park of an Earlville shopping centre when a man grabbed her handbag, pulling it from her shoulder and causing her to fall to the ground. The man fled on foot with the handbag.
Investigations led police to a McEwen Street residence, where he was taken into custody. He was charged with one count each of stealing from the person, common assault, possessing dangerous drugs and entering premises and committing and two counts of attempted enter a dwelling.
His bail was denied, and he will appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Brinsmead
Officers from the Cairns Tactical Crime Squad arrested a 16-year-old Manoora boy at a Jensen Street home yesterday.
It will be alleged the boy was seen travelling in a car that had been reported stolen from a Bentley Park home on February 28. It will be further alleged that the boy drove the car to a service station, fuelled it, and drove off without paying.
He was charged with three counts of unlawful motor vehicle use and one count of stealing and unlicenced driving.
He will appear in Cairns Childrens Court later this month.
