Two teenage boys have been charged concerning several alleged break and enters in Greater Cairns.

It will be alleged the boys were involved in several break-ins in the Greater Cairns area, stealing valuables and cars before allegedly driving the cars dangerously around Cairns.

At approximately 3.30 pm yesterday, officers from the Tactical Crime Squad and Cairns Property Crime Unit attended a Manunda unit, where a 16-year-old boy was taken into custody, and a 14-year-old boy allegedly attempted to run from the premises.

After a short foot chase, the 14-year-old was taken into custody.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with ten offences, including six counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of attempted stealing, entering a dwelling and committing, stealing and obstructing police.

The 16-year-old boy was charged with eight offences, including one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without due care and attention, entering a dwelling and committing, stealing, and two counts each of unlicenced driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Both boys were denied bail and will appear in Cairns Childrens Court.

Assaults occasioning bodily harm, Cairns

Police have charged a man and woman in relation to the alleged assault of two people at Cairns City on Sunday, March 12.

It will be alleged at approximately 4 am, four people gained entry to a Mcleod Street unit and assaulted the occupants, a 23-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, demanding money before leaving empty-handed.

Both occupants received minor injuries.

Investigations led police to locate a 22-year-old Bayview man at Cairns North at approximately 6.30 am that morning. He has been charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of threatening violence and one count of entering a dwelling.

He appeared in Cairns Magistrates Court and is scheduled to re-appear on April 21. Yesterday afternoon, police located a 19-year-old Bayview Heights woman. She has been charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, two counts of threatening violence and one count of entering a dwelling.

She is expected to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on March 31.

It will be alleged the pair were known to the occupants. Investigations are ongoing.
