Update: Robbery charges, Mount Sheridan
A 23-year-old Woree man has been charged following a robbery in Mount Sheridan on March 8.
It will be alleged around 10.30 am, a 66-year-old White Rock man was riding his electric bike south on George Cannon Drive towards Mount Sheridan Plaza. The 66-year-old man passed the 23-year-old man, who allegedly assaulted him, causing the man to be knocked from his bike.
The 23-year-old stole the man’s bike and fled the scene.
A passing motorist noticed the injured man and called emergency services. The 66-year-old was transported to Cairns Hospital with suspected broken ribs.
The 23-year-old man was charged yesterday (March 13) with one count of armed robbery. His bail was denied and is due before Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Westcourt
Four juveniles and an adult have been arrested after an alleged stolen car was intercepted by police last night. It will be alleged the vehicle was stolen from a Bentley Park home on Friday, March 10.
Last night the car was seen in Westcourt, and a tyre deflation device was successfully deployed. The vehicle travelled towards Mulgrave Road before being abandoned on Lyon Street.
All five occupants attempted to flee the scene but were arrested.
A 17-year-old Mooroobool boy was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving. He was also charged with a serious assault on police after allegedly biting a female officer on the bicep during his arrest. His bail was denied, and he will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A 16-year-old Manunda boy was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A 16-year-old Mapoon girl was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A 12-year-old Edmonton girl was charged with four counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
All three were bailed with strict conditions. An 18-year-old Edmonton woman was charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and obstructing police and is due to appear before Cairns Magistrates Court on March 30.
A 19-year-old Mooroobool woman was charged earlier in the day after she was allegedly seen on social media in the same vehicle.
She was located by police and charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of unlicensed driving.
Her bail was denied, and she is due before Cairns Magistrates Court today.
Enter premises, Manunda
Three boys were arrested on Saturday evening after they were seen allegedly attempting to break into cars on Anderson Street, Manunda.
It will be alleged around 6.30 pm, the boys gained entry to the yards of several Anderson Street businesses.
They allegedly damaged multiple vehicles to gain entry and steal valuables, fleeing prior to police arrival. A Dog Squad officer attended, with Police Dog Bally tracking the boys through drains and easements.
A 15-year-old was located hiding behind some bins in Hoare Street and was charged with ten counts of entering a premise and two counts each of attempted enter premise and trespass. He will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
Two other boys, aged 10 and 13, were arrested, and both were charged with fourteen counts of entering a premise and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and wilful damage. Both boys will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
