Multiple charges, Ravenshoe

Police have charged a Malanda man after multiple incidents in the Ravenshoe area last week (March 30). The man was intercepted on Tully Falls Road, Koombooloomba, at about 3 am for vehicle checks, and police allegedly located a quantity of cannabis, methylamphetamine, hashish and money in the vehicle.

The man then returned to Ravenshoe, where it will further be alleged he conducted burnouts outside the police station causing damage to the fence and chopping up the grass on the footpath.

Police will also allege that when they attempted to speak to the man on Saturday, April 1, at an address on Ascham Street, he resisted arrest, kicking the vehicle door into an officer. The 31-year-old man is expected to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on April 18, charged with one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property suspected of having been used in a crime, possessing drug utensils, possessing dangerous drugs schedule 1 drug quantity, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, wilful damage, obstruct police and assault police.

Wilful damage, Ravenshoe

Police have charged a Kewarra Beach woman after an incident in Ravenshoe on Saturday evening (April 1). It will be alleged the woman attended an address on Ascham Street at about 6.20 pm when she exited her vehicle and used a knife to puncture two tyres on a vehicle at the address. The 28-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on April 26, charged with wilful damage.

Drink driving, Tolga

A 36-year-old local man has been charged after he returned an alleged breath alcohol reading of 0.102 per cent BAC after he was intercepted on Sunday morning (April 2).

The man was intercepted on Main Street, Tolga, at about midnight and then taken to the Atherton Police Station for further testing. He was later charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor (mid-range drink driving), and his licence was immediately disqualified. Atherton man is scheduled to appear in the Atherton Magistrates Court on April 18, charged with drink driving.
