Property offenders arrested, Bentley Park
Police have charged two teenagers with a total of 45 offences in relation to a number of property-related incidents in the Greater Cairns area.
At around 12.30 am on Saturday, police located and arrested a 16-year-old Bentley Park girl and a 17-year-old White Rock boy at a Bentley Park home following extensive investigations.
It will be alleged the 16-year-old girl was identified multiple times over the past three weeks travelling in stolen cars and being involved in fuel drive-offs across the Greater Cairns area.
It will be further alleged on February 14 that the girl and co-offenders allegedly broke into an Edgehill unit, stealing keys and a black Corolla.
She has been charged with 35 offences, including twelve counts of entering a dwelling and committing unlawful use of a motor vehicle, seven counts of stealing, two counts of entering a premise and committing an indictable offence, and one count of each attempted enter the premise and attempted stealing.
The 17-year-old boy allegedly attended a Bentley Park address on Friday, March 3, where he stole keys and a Hyundai Kona. It will be further alleged the vehicle was seen outside an Edge Hill home after an occupant disturbed three juveniles attempting to break into his home.
He was charged with ten offences, including three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of attempted entering a dwelling and unlicenced driving, and one count of entering a dwelling and committing, stealing and receiving tainted property.
Both juveniles were denied bail and are expected to appear in Cairns Children’s Court. Investigations are continuing.
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, Edmonton
Edmonton police charged a 40-year-old Mount Sheridan man after receiving reports of a vehicle driving dangerously on Ravizza Drive, Edmonton.
It will be alleged around 4.30 pm on Saturday, March 4; three people were sitting at a Ravizza Street bus stop when a vehicle drove past before doing several burnouts in the street. It will be further alleged the driver has driven towards the bus stop hitting the gutter and just missing the people seated. Police were called and located the vehicle parked outside Hartill Street, Edmonton home. The 40-year-old man was taken into custody, and a breath test was conducted at Cairns Police Station, where he allegedly returned a positive result of 0.075%.
He was charged with one count each of the dangerous operations of a motor vehicle and mid-range drink driving. He was bailed to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court on March 21.
Multiple offences, Cairns area
Police have charged a 14-year-old boy following investigations into multiple property offences in Bentley Park over the last six weeks.
It will be alleged on January 19, the boy broke a window and smashed a screen to gain entry to a Bentley Park home, before stealing watches and jewellery.
It will be further alleged on February 24. The boy attempted to break into another Bentley Park home, where he stole two watches before fleeing.
Police located one of the watches at the boy’s address.
He has been charged with 14 counts of entering a dwelling and committing, four counts of attempted entering a dwelling, and one count each of entering a dwelling with intent, attempted unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is expected to appear in Cairns Children’s Court at a later date.
