Police Weekly Crime Wrap Cape York

Hope Vale Police have charged six youths with multiple offences in relation to an alleged break-in that occurred at a business on Muni Street, Hopevale, on January 16.

Police allege two 15-year-old Hope Vale boys, a 16-year-old Hope Vale boy, a 12-year-old Hope Vale boy and a 16-year-old Cairns boy, forced entry to the business between midnight and 1.30 am on January 16 and stole a quantity of cash and mobile phones. The boys were each charged with one count of entering the premises and committing an indictable offence.

The 15-year-old Hope Vale boy was also charged with possessing things for use in connection with an offence and unlawful possession of the suspected stolen property.
Sergeant Karl Ford, Officer in Charge of Hope Vale Police Station, said through investigations, Hope Vale police identified the youths involved in the break-in and affected subsequent arrests.

“We have a small, tight-knit community, and this type of behaviour is not tolerated.


“We aim to continue working closely with our community to keep people and properties safe, and we urge parents to ensure you know where your children are, and they are kept safe and out of trouble.”
