THE recent spree of property crime in Cairns continues as officers from Cairns Property Crime Squad and Tactical Crime Squad charged eight people with a total of 22 offences following multiple property-related incidents across the city recently.
A 30-year-old Bentley Park man was arrested yesterday, 26 October, after Cairns Tactical Crime Squad successfully deployed a tyre deflation device to intercept a stolen vehicle on Mulgrave Road, Earlville at approximately 4pm.
Police allege the black Toyota Yaris was stolen from a home in Bathurst Drive in Bentley Park on 5 September after keys were stolen from the property.
The man was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on 22 November.
Police charged a 45-year-old Manoora woman following multiple alleged break-ins at homes in Stratford and Manoora over the past week.
She was charged yesterday with two counts each of enter dwelling with intent and enter dwelling and commit, and one count of trespass and is due to appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on 17 November.
Police charged a 15-year-old Earlville boy following an alleged break-in at Earlville last month.
The boy, along with two others previously charged, broke into a business along Ishmael Road on 1 September.
Following extensive investigations, the boy was charged yesterday with one count of enter premises with intent. He is due to appear at Cairns Childrens Court next week.
Police charged a 16-year-old girl with seven counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence.
It will be alleged the girl stole from multiple businesses in the Manoora area, dating as far back as April this year, she is due to appear at Cairns Childrens Court on 1 November.
Officers from Cairns Tactical Crime Squad and Cairns Property Crime Squad charged four boys following a break-in at a Lake Street unit complex on Tuesday, 24 October.
It will be alleged the teens entered the building, stole keys and a vehicle before damaging a boom gate at the complex when they exited the property in the stolen vehicle.
A 12-year-old Manoora boy was charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit, unlawful use of a motor vehicle in company, drive without a driver licence and attempted enter dwelling with intent at night.
A 15-year-old Edmonton boy was charged with one count each of wilful damage and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Police further allege the boy stole a car from a property in Lake Street in Cairns before damaging a boom gate at the property as he drove the car out. He is due to appear in Cairns Childrens Court today, 27 October.
A 12-year-old Manunda boy was charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is being dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with two counts of enter dwelling and commit, he was allegedly with the other boys when they entered the unit complex, before he entered a unit and stole a watch. He is due to appear at Cairns Childrens Court on 31 October.
