MAREEBA Shire Council has announced a project to conduct sewer fogging and pipework imaging, focusing on the Kenneally Road, Peters Street, and Granite Creek areas.
The project is scheduled to commence on Monday, 4 March, and is expected to last approximately three months.
FlowPro Pty Ltd has been contracted to carry out the works and will begin with the fogging program, followed by the pipework imaging.
Residents in the affected areas will receive a letter approximately one week before work is scheduled to start in their area.
Additional information and a sewer network map related to the project can be found on council’s website.
Residents are advised that council’s contractors may require access to properties with a sewer maintenance shaft.
If residents have any concerns about the contractor entering their property or wish to verify their authorization, they are encouraged to contact Council.
“The fogging machine will inject fog through Council’s sewer network – if any fog is visible, it can indicate defects within the sewer reticulation network that requires rectification and or remediation,” Mayor Angela Toppin said.
“Similarly, the pipework imaging will make use of a camera to give council a picture of the infrastructure currently in place and the work required to the sewer network.”
“Council will address these areas before commencing the 2024/25 sewer manhole and relining programs.”
For further inquiries or discussions regarding the sewer fogging program, residents are encouraged to contact council’s Infrastructure Services Administration Team at 1300 308 461.
