Six teens found in stolen car, Palm Cove

PROPERTY Crime Squad detectives charged six teenagers in a stolen car following the successful deployment of a tyre deflation device on the Captain Cook Highway around 2.45pm yesterday, March 11.

Police will allege the group was driving a Subaru station wagon allegedly stolen from an Atherton residence on Sunday, March 10.

Following the deployment of the tyre deflation device, they allegedly abandoned the vehicle in Harper Street and fled. They were located by officers on Williams Esplanade where they were all taken into custody.

A 16-year-old Mareeba girl was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of burglary, entering a premises and drug possession.

A 14-year-old Atherton girl was charged with entering a premises and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 13-year-old Mareeba boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

A 14-year-old Mareeba boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of unlicenced driving.

A 13-year-old Mareeba girl was charged with stealing, entering a dwelling, wilful damage, and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

All five are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Children’s Court at a later date.

A 14-year-old Mutchilba girl was charged with entering a dwelling an unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act.
