NDIS provider launches speedboat service

HANNA SLOAN

SUNBIRD Home Care, a fully registered NDIS provider, is set to launch their comprehensive NDIS and self-managed aged care services in the Moreton Bay islands.

In order to facilitate offering care services in both sectors throughout the area, Sunbird Home Care have invested in a speedboat for ease of access and to provide prompt nursing care to the islands.

To mark this milestone stage of their expansion, the care provider will host an Information Day on Russell Island at the Recreational Hall on 29 June 2024 at 11 am and on Macleay Island on 30 June.

The event will feature an information session and fun games for attendees.

All community members, potential participants, and their families are invited to join a day of learning, engagement, and community spirit.

Sunbird Home Care Managing Director Lindsay Stewart noticed a need for increased service provision to the islands and took the initiative to fill that gap.

“We are proud to be able to meet those needs and deliver nursing via speedboat.”

According to Mr Stewart, there has been significant interest in the employment opportunities this initiative has created.

“We have five nurses and 50 support workers lined up ready to go, and we are still receiving numerous resumes each day,” he said.

Sunbird Home Care’s mission is to offer person-centred home care that supports loved ones in their place of living, and the organisation has expanded throughout Queensland since its establishment in Cairns in 2022.

As a registered NDIS provider, Sunbird Home Care offers personal care for 6-24 hours, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, hospice care, and welfare checks.

They also provide support for those on self-managed aged care packages and paediatric services for families of children with complex medical conditions and high care needs.

The provider also offers RN nursing services encompassing administering medication, dressing wounds, monitoring vital signs, inserting intravenous (IV) catheters, creating care plans, documenting patient information, preparing patients for discharge, and educating patients and their families about various illnesses and treatments.

Sunbird Home Care are dedicated to providing superior health care at home, tailored to individual needs.

All accredited team members deliver personalised in-home care with dignity and respect, helping individuals maintain safety, dignity, and independence, no matter where “home” is.

From family homes to senior communities and rehabilitation facilities, Sunbird Home Care provide superior care, and they are committed to expanding to meet the growing needs of the Moreton Bay community, in both the NDIS and aged care sectors.
