Thieving group arrested

A GROUP of thieving teenagers have been arrested following a response by multiple police units to a stolen vehicle that had been abandoned on Charlton Street at Gordonvale yesterday morning, 11 January.

It is alleged the group were involved in the theft of a handbag containing keys and wallets from a vehicle parked at Squires Close.

The group fled in a stolen blue MG3 and allegedly returned later and attempted to steal the vehicle, police were then called and patrols of the area began.

Edmonton Detectives located three of the teens allegedly involved at around 12:30am on Church Street at Gordonvale.

The remaining two teenagers were later located in the area and taken into police custody.

Officers recovered the damaged MG3 which had been allegedly stolen Grandview Crescent at Earlville on 11 January.

A 15-year-old Manunda girl was charged with entering a premises and three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

A 17-year-old Mooroobool girl was charged with entering a premises, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and four counts of breaching bail conditions. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

A 14-year-old Manunda girl was charged with two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering a premises. She was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court.

A 15-year-old Edmonton boy and a 13-year-old Mount Sheridan girl were both charged with entering a premises and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. They are scheduled to appear in the Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
