What’s on in Cairns: Melbourne Cup Day

THE Melbourne Cup is fast approaching, and several venues around Cairns are pulling out all the stops, from hosting luncheons to fundraisers and more. Read on to see what’s on in Cairns on Melbourne Cup Day, Tuesday 7 November.

Brothers Leagues Club Melbourne Cup Luncheon

Treat yourself to a Melbourne Cup two-course special at Fratelli’s at Brothers Leagues Club in Manunda, available from 9am-9pm on 7 November.

Indulge in a main of roast chicken supreme wrapped in prosciutto or grilled prawn skewers with crispy noodle salad, followed by a dessert of either Bailey’s cheesecake or raspberry an white chocolate semifreddo.

Prices are $40 for members, $45 for non-members, and bookings are essential.

Melbourne Cup with Crystalbrook Cairns

Enjoy Crystalbrook Collection’s Melbourne Cup Extravaganza, where you can choose your own adventure with good vibes and glamour at Crystalbrook Flynn or celebrate in style at Crystalbrook Riley.

At Flynn, join celebrity MC David Subritzky for the party of the year with 12 pop-up bars, live entertainment and performances, a 3.5 hour drinks package, and a selection of canapés and more substantial snacks provided by Boardwalk Social.

General admission is $145 per person.

At Riley, Mark Littler will host guests for a 3.5 premium drinks package and nine pop-up bars including selections from local distilleries Mt Uncle Distillery and Wolf Lane.

General admission is $155 per person and private lounges and booths are from $500 (sold out).

VIP experience at Calypso Club

Crystalbrook’s newest venue Calypso Club is joining in the fun with the ultimate VIP day out at the instantly popular rum and seafood bar.

Enjoy exclusive pop-up bars featuring Mumm Grand Gordon Champagne, premium spirits, and cocktails as well as access to all general admission bars.

Also on offer is an oyster bar and roaming canapés, a parlour room to refresh and touch up Cup Day glam, and air conditioning to enjoy the tropical vibes without the heat.

Nu Nu annual Melbourne Cup fundraiser

The highly anticipated annual Nu Nu Melbourne Cup fundraiser for the Far North Queensland Hospital Foundation (FNQHF) is a day full of fun.

The ticket price of $199 includes 6 course menu, plus a welcome cocktail and this year’s theme is Golden Days.

The day includes door prizes, a major raffle, racing sweeps, live and silent auctions, Fashions on the Deck and a horse race on the beach.

100% of proceeds raised go to the FNQ Hospital Foundation.

This event is now sold out, but you can still donate to FNQHF and show your support.
