TWO Cairns girls are facing charges in connection to the alleged theft of a vehicle from a residence on Coolamon Terrace in Mount Sheridan.
According to authorities, the incident unfolded when police observed the girls driving the stolen vehicle at high speed through various Cairns suburbs around 1am on Sunday.
Following the sighting, the vehicle was located abandoned near the area from which it was reported stolen. Subsequently, law enforcement officers apprehended the girls shortly afterwards.
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with unlawfully using a motor vehicle and driving without a license, while a 13-year-old girl faces a charge of unlawfully using a motor vehicle.
Both individuals are scheduled to appear before the Cairns Children’s Court on a later date.
