SEVERAL teenagers have been arrested and charged over the weekend following a spate of alleged offences including breaking and entering, vehicle theft, and attempted theft.
Officers from Cairns Property Crime Unit have charged a 14-year-old boy after locating him at a McManus Street address on Friday, March 15.
The boy was allegedly involved in several offences across various suburbs over the three days before his arrest.
He allegedly broke into a Mazlin Street residence at around midday on March 13, stealing a wallet and jewellery before fleeing the location with a group in two previously stolen vehicles.
The boy has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, two of enter dwelling, two of stealing, and one count each of possess thing intended for use, face disguised with intent, possess dangerous drugs, and possess property suspected stolen.
He is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A 16-year-old Manoora boy has been charged following an incident at a Mulgrave Road service station in the early hours of Sunday morning.
It will be alleged the boy was part of a group trying to re-fuel a previously stolen vehicle when police arrived at the service station.
The boy was abandoned when the vehicle fled the location, and he was subsequently arrested.
The stolen vehicle was shortly thereafter subject to a deployment of a tyre deflation device and located dumped a few hours later in Edmonton.
The boy has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and attempted stealing.
He is due to appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
A 16-year-old Edmonton boy has been charged following the execution of an arrest warrant at a Cattleya Close address on Sunday afternoon, March 17.
It will be alleged the boy had been involved in several offences in Edmonton and Bentley Park over the previous two weeks.
The boy has been charged with four charges of enter dwelling, three counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs, possess utensils, and possess property suspected stolen.
He has been refused bail and will appear before Cairns Childrens Court at a later date.
